Cruise-In & Adopt A Cop Lock Up Photos

These are photos taken at the Lock Up at Hardee's. The Police have just moved in and are asking cruisers questions.
They received a report that criminals were driving classic vehicles and hanging out around Hardee's on Saturday Night. Not here,
Wayne Balch, president of the Southern Knights Cruisers, told the Officers!
Believe me, it was all about having fun this Saturday night! And at the same time helping the Chesterfield County Police Officers.
There was a Special Cruise-In and Chesterfield County Police Fund Raiser held on September 30, 2006, Sponsored by the South
ern Knights Cruisers, Inc., as a part of their Adopt A Cop Program. This special event was held at Hardee's located at 1901 W.
Hundred Rd. located just East of Rt. I-95 (Exit 61A) in Chester, VA, along with the Saturday night cruise-in.
The event raised $3833.00 to support the Chesterfield County Police Department and used to assist their officers for
a short time prior to other funds taking over.
The hobbyists and spectators in the community came out to Hardee's to enjoy seeing all the Classic Cars, Custom Cars, and
Trucks that attend the Hardee's Saturday Night Cruise-in, but this night it would be special. The weather was great and the vehicles just
cruised in in numbers. The lot was full by 6:00 PM. There was a replica jail front provided by Victory Tabernacle Church of God
located on Genito Rd. Also, there was music by DJ's "Wolf Man John, The Virginia Gentleman & The Rocket Man, our newest DJ."

Several Celebrities came by to lend a helping hand. The Munster Family stopped by, but little Eddie got in trouble
quick. He was carried over an Officers shoulder and locked up for a big part of the night. But kids will be kids! We
had many their that dressed in costumes, which really spiced up the occasion. Some of these were Elvis & Pricilla,
Herman, Lily & Eddie Munster, Indiana Jones, Sasquatch, and so many others. "Elvis" stayed in trouble all night and
was locked up several times. However, by nights end, he had raised the most money and received the "Biggest Jail
Bird Award."
Also, One young lady, Laura Duncan of Enon was there on her birthday. She is in her late 70's and
walks with a cane, but never misses a cruise-in night. She told one of the CPD Officers, " I have never been in jail,
but want to help. How about locking me up?" The officer said, "Ma'am, I can't do that unless someone donates to put
you in lock up." Mrs. Duncan said, "Son, suppose I hit you on the leg with my cane?" The Officer locked her up for
threatening an officer and donations were made by her many friends to get her out. The car club with the most
members participating, was the Oldies But Goodies Classic Cruisers. The club members that participated, came to turn the
event into a real party. Just goes to show how determined the community was to show the officers that they really care.
Come on down and join us in the fun! We will be looking for you in April 2007!
