About The Veteran's Organizations We Support
The Fisher House program
The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. No family pays to stay at any Fisher House!
Richmond VA Medical Center Fund #1161, formally McGuire Veterans Hospital
Richmond VA Medical Center Fund #1161, formally McGuire Veterans Hospital has a full range of health care services that treat our veterans. They range from comprehensive outpatient care to complex inpatient services such as heart, liver and lung transplantation, and care of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. The facility is a leader in the care for traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and is one of four Polytrauma Rehabilitation Centers that provide intensive inpatient treatment for traumatic brain injuries as well as other injuries sustained during combat.
Holiday Helper Association
Holiday Helper Association was founded on the idea of helping those in need. Ever since our organization was established, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest. Our team is made up entirely of volunteers. We advocate for those who need our help. Even a little help goes a long way. We have served military families with 1 to as many as 9 children! These service men and women have stepped up to keep our nation safe. In doing so, some have taken in their siblings children when crisis occurred, some are single parents trying to make it from day to day, some are diligently working to keep the family afloat as their spouse is unable to find work due to frequent moves. Whatever the reason, this program is there to ensure "No Military Child Goes Without!"
Richard Bland College
Richard Bland College awards approximately $289,000 in scholarships and grants annually, and the need has consistently grown in recent years, according to President Debbie L. Sydow. This is where Southern Knights Cruisers, a non-profit classic car club, has stepped up and created an endowed scholarship that will afford students needing assistance the opportunity to earn a prestigious degree from Richard Bland College of William & Mary. While the car hobbyist group enjoys showing and driving classic cars, they are dedicated to raising money to help many groups including veterans and our youth. "Southern Knights Cruisers has been a longstanding supporter of Richard Bland College and we are now pleased to increase contributions by creating an endowed scholarship," said Ricky Williams, the car club president.
